CATENA ALAMOS CHARDONNAY 2006
Catena are arguably the best producer in Argentina and their basic level Chardonnay displays all the characteristics of a top quality new world Chardonnay, showing ripe fruit along with a careful and balanced use of oak that doesn't overpower the wine. The cool climate also gives a refreshing, crisp finish.
VINEYARD
From Mendoza in the foothills of the Andes, the grapes for this wine are sourced from three specific vineyards: 60% from Tupungato, 20% from Tunuyán and 20% from Agrelo
GRAPE VARIETIES
100% Chardonnay
VINIFICATION
The wine was fermented using selected yeast at a maximum fermermentation temperature of 18°C, for 45 days. 60% of the resulting wine was then matured in stainless steel, with the remaining 40% aged for 5 months in French Oak.
TASTING NOTE
The 2006 Alamos Chardonnay shows a light yellow color with greenish tones. The nose is fresh and focused, with ripe tropical and citrus fruits layered with floral notes and a touch of vanilla. The mouthfeel is clean, with pineapple and mango fruits with a touch of lemon and sweet spice. The finish is bright and crisp with refreshing acidity and balance.
