TORRE DEL GALL CAVA BRUT RESERVA NV

For everyday drinking fizz it's hard to beat a good Cava. This wine has been aged for longer than the usual period, giving additional complexity and freshness to the wine. Offering a good fresh fruit palate and crisp finish, this wine offers excellent value for money.

VINEYARD
About an hour SW of Barcelona, overlooked by the impressive Monserrat mountain range, is the Torre del Gall winery. It is owned by Cava experts Freixenet, who bought it along with its 30 hectares of vineyards about 3 years ago. The winery was built in 1990 and was previously owned by Moet et Chandon, the famous Champagne house.

The chalky clay soil and mild Mediterranean climate is well suited to sparkling wine production.

GRAPE VARIETIES
Macabeo, Xarel lo and Parellada

VINIFICATION
This wine is made in the traditional method, meaning that the wine is blended and then undergoes a second fermentation in the bottle to add the sparkle. As the wine rests on its lees during and after the second fermentation, it gains complexity. This is a reserva Cava, requiring 18-24 months on lees before release.

TASTING NOTE
The wine has aromas of medetrrean fruit and floral overtones. It is a clean, crisp fizz with apple and citrus notes on the palate.
