TAMAR RIDGE GEWÜRZTRAMINER 2005

This Gewürztraminer hails from Tasmania, where the cool climate slowly develops rich and elegant flavours during the long ripening period. This wine shows all the classic Gewürz characteristics and is an excellent match for spicy food.

VINEYARD
100% of the grapes were sourced from Tamar Ridge's own vineyard located at Kayena on the West Tamar. 2005 vintage conditions were fine, mild and sunny. This resulted in fruit harvested in sound condition with good ripeness and excellent varietal fruit characters.

100% Gewürztraminer

VINIFICATION
The juice was run off skins immediately after pressing and then cold settled to remove solids. Fermented under strict temperature control to maximise retention of fruit flavours.

TASTING NOTE
The wine has a bright mid-straw colour with fragrant spicy aromas with some floral notes and hints of lemon/citrus character. The palate is long, crisp and elegant. There are savoury/spicy flavours, a real citrus tang and just enough of those Gewürztraminer rosewater characters to add additional complexity and give that true varietal stamp to the wine.

This is a style that is ready to drink now or over the next 18 months. The fresh, spicy flavours team well with Asian inspired dishes of seafood, chicken or pork.
