QUINTA DO INFANTADO VINTAGE PORT 1997 QUINTA DO INFANTADO VINTAGE PORT 1997

Qunita do Infantado make their wines in a slightly dryer style than most houses, specifically allowing for longer fermentation times before fortification. This leaves us with a deep and complex wine with huge and brooding flavours and beautiful balance. The 1997, demonstrates this perfectly. It is a wine that could be enjoyed now, but has the structure to last for a further 20 years at least.

Was £34.99 now £29.99!!!!

VINEYARD
The Quinta do Infantado Ports are grown, made and bottled at the Quinta (Estate). The Quinta is located near Pinhão, at an altitude of 150 metres, in a sub-region called Gontelho, which has long been renowned as a source of outstanding Port.

All the vineyards are class A (the best in Douro Valley).

GRAPE VARIETIES
Tinta Roriz, Touriga Francesca, Touriga Nacio

VINIFICATION
The grapes are foot trodden and are fermented in lagar. This is a hallmark of Quinta do Infantado and, together with the quality of the grapes, is of great importance for the quality of these Ports.

At Quinta do Infantado, the fermentation lasts longer and the Ports are drier in style than at some other houses. 77% alc./vol wine brandy is used to stop fermentation.

TASTING NOTE
This port has tremendous depth of colour, with ripe plums and chocolate perfumes on the nose. On the palate the wine is rich and sweet, but beautifully balanced by well-integrated tannins and a chocolate, plums and savoury cherry fruit. The finish is elegant and clean, with fine, delicate perfumes of warm, ripe fruit.
