Slightly closed on the nose but with wonderful richness and raciness on the palate, offering an array of grapefruit, greengage, and tropical fruit characteristics. A first rate Condrieu that is built to last. VINEYARD André Perret's vineyard is located at Verlieu-Chavanay, a small village 15 km south of Vienne in the Rhône valley. The vineyard is located on the last spurs of the Massif Central, its soils are characterized mainly by altered granites subject to erosion. Slopes are very steep, often more than 50 %. The average altitude is 250 meters. The general orientation of the vineyard is South, South-East. The vines averae 40 years of age and the yield is maintained at about 35 hectolitres/hectare. Traditional methods for cultivating the wine are used. Pesticides are only used in moderation, as and when required. GRAPE VARIETIES 100% Viognier VINIFICATION Both alcoholic and malolactic fermentation takes place in barrels. The wine is then matured for 12 months with regular bâtonnage . The wine then rests on its lees during one year before being bottled. TASTING NOTE Condrieu Clos Chanson, with its shiny golden colour, features a mixture of white flowers such as acacia and lime blossom, together with violet and yellow peach flavours.
