PAUL JABOULET AÎNÉ HERMITAGE LA PETITE CHAPELLE 2007 PAUL JABOULET AÎNÉ HERMITAGE LA PETITE CHAPELLE 2007

Jaboulet is are justifiably famous for the quality of their Hermitage wines; most notably the iconic La Chapelle. This wine is the junior version offering an intense palate of ripe, blackberry fruit and complex spice along with well integrated tannins. One for the cellar, this wine will keep for at least 10 years and up to 20.

ONLY AVAILABLE IN CASES OF 6

VINEYARD
La Petite Chapelle is made from a selection of grapes grown on the Hermitage hill. It is distinct from the 'La Chapelle' blend. Soils here are a mix of granite gravel overlaid with mica-schist and gneiss and round, alluvial pebbles. The vines are goblet trained and pruned on stakes. They are 45 years old and yield 30-35 hl/ha.

GRAPE VARIETIES
100% Syrah

VINIFICATION
The grapes were hand-picked by individual plot into ventilated 20kg crates and were sorted by hand, destemmed and crushed on arrival at the winery. Fermentation took place in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by maceration lasting 3-4 weeks. The wine was aged for 18 months in oak casks and racked every four months for blending the different parcels.

TASTING NOTE
Deep, dark cherry in colour, with intense, spicy perfumes of ripe fruit, especially blackberries. On the palate it is concentrated, with good structure and tannins well-integrated with the ripe, black cherry and bramble fruit. Long, fragrant finish.
