PAUL JABOULET AÎNÉ HERMITAGE LA CHAPELLE 2007 PAUL JABOULET AÎNÉ HERMITAGE LA CHAPELLE 2007

An icon wine if ever there was one, the flagship of the Jaboulet range and one of the most famous wines of the Hermitage appellation; La Chapelle. 2007 was an outstanding vintage for this wine and the quality focus of the Frey family since their acquisition of Jaboulet shows even at this early stage.

ONLY AVAILABLE IN UNSPLIT CASES OF 6

Also available in-bond. Contact us for details and prices.

VINEYARD
La Chapelle is made from a selection of the best grapes grown on the Hermitage hill. Soils here are a mix of granite gravel overlaid with micaschist and gneiss and round, alluvial pebbles. The vines are goblet trained and pruned on stakes. They are 45 years old and yield 30-35 hl/ha.

GRAPE VARIETIES
100% Syrah

VINIFICATION
The grapes were hand-picked by individual plot into ventilated 20kg crates and were sorted by hand, destemmed and crushed on arrival at the winery.

Fermentation took place in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by maceration lasting 3-4 weeks. The wine was aged for 18 months in oak casks and racked every four months. The best wines from the individual plots go into the La Chapelle blend.

TASTING NOTE
Intense, deep ruby red in colour, with dark cherry highlights. On the nose it is incredibly intense and concentrated. Perfumes of blackberry and spice dominate, giving way to tightly knit oak and fruit characters
with ripe tannins and a long, spicy finish.
