MOUNT HORROCKS CLARE VALLEY CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2009 MOUNT HORROCKS CLARE VALLEY CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2009

This wine is a truly superb example of a top quality Australian Cabernet, offering supple and silky black fruit with the lovely balancing minty notes that one used to find on Australian Cabernet, but seems to be all too rare these days. This is one that can be drunk now or will improve for some years in the cellar.

ONLY AVAILABLE IN UNSPLIT CASES OF 12

VINEYARD
This wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes grown in the Clare Valley on un-irrigated vines.

GRAPE VARIETIES
100% Cabernet Sauvignon

VINIFICATION
The varieties were fermented separately in stainless steel fermenters, and pumped over 5 times a day.

The wines were fermented to dryness before pressing, and the varieties matured separately in barriques, of which 35% was new French oak, for 18 months.

TASTING NOTE
Deep, dark crimson. Plush aromas of generous red and black berry fruit with a touch of mint and anise, along with underlying gentle oak. This is one incredibly stylish, soulful cabernet without any harsh tannins or green leaf characters. It's all luxurious forest fruits, bright but gentle tannins and crisp acidity. Rounded, textured, long and fine in the mouth full of flavour yet in no way heavy.

CLOSURE:    Stelvin
