MACHHERNDL GRÜNER VELTLINER 2006
Grüner Veltliner produces wines that are pale green in color with aromas of grapefruit, lime, pear, and hints of white pepper. The wines natural acidity and fruit character make these ideal partners for food.
VINEYARDS
The Machherndl winery is situated in the heart of the Wachau, Austrias most famous wine region The area can easily be recognized by the characteristic hills Kollmitz and Kollmuetz on the river banks of Danube. The soil in the Wachau is light and sandy on the lower slopes and decomposed primary rock at higher elevations. Vineyard topography varies from gentle slopes to steep terraced hills rising to 1,400 feet above sea level (800 feet above the Danube). The steeply terraced vineyards are the source for the charm, richness and consistent taste of Wachau wines that gives their high quality reputation.

TASTING NOTE
Brilliant straw hue. Apple sauce, dried pear and dried flower aromas. Medium-bodied, this has ripe pear and apple fruit and a nicely structured finish with tart acidity and nice persistence. Can be drunk now, but would keep for 10+ years.
