EMILIO LUSTAU LOS ARCOS DRY AMONTILLADO SHERRY NV

A text book Amontillado of great maturity. Naturally dry and soft, its palate gives a hint of wood and smoky raisins. A powerful and distinctive nutty bouquet. A better Amontillado would be difficult to find. Awarded Silver Medal at IWC 2005.

VINEYARD
Bodegas Emilio Lustau was founded in 1896 and currently owns 220 hectares of vines, with one vineyard in one in Chipiona and one in Montegilillo, to the north and north-east of Jerez de la Frontèra respectively
All the soils are the classic albariza of Jerez

GRAPE VARIETIES
100% Palomino Fino

VINIFICATION
The grapes are harvested in early September and only the free run juice is used. The must then undergoes temperature controlled fermentation before being fortified in preparation to the ageing process.

The wine is then aged in a traditional solera system initially under a layer of flor and then the wine slowly oxidises as the flor dies off. Consequently this leaves both the flavours of the flor and natural oxidation that make a great amontillado.

TASTING NOTE
Light amber in colour, full-bodied with dry soft nutty flavours with a hint of wood and raisins and crisp acidity.
