LOIMER KAMPTAL GRÜNER VELTLINER 2007 LOIMER KAMPTAL GRÜNER VELTLINER 2007

This is a classic dry Grüner Veltliner, with perfumes of fresh apple and citrus fruits, a peppery, limey acidity balanced by cool, perfumed fruit on the palate and good length.

VINEYARDS
Situated 200-400m above sea level, the climate of the Kamp Valley is characterised by cool nights and warm days, with a long, sunny autumn. The high summer temperatures are mitigated by the River Danube and the Waldviertel (forested area). Its long growing season and the difference in temperature between night and day, gives the grapes a chance to reach full ripeness and develop fine perfumes and flavours. The grapes for this wine are grown in fine, old vineyards around Langenlois and nearby areas. 80% of the vines, both young and old, are grown in loess soils and the remaining 20% in weathered gneiss soil,(coarse-grained, metamorphic rock containing quartz, felspar and mica).

GRAPE VARIETIES
100% Grüner Veltliner

VINIFICATION
The grapes were hand-picked into small containers, in mid to late October. After a short maceration lasting 4-8 hours, the grapes were pressed and fined, then fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks at 19-21°C. The wine remained on its fine lees until bottling.
