LIBERTAD PINOT BLANC 2006
Pinot Blanc, from its French heartland has found its way to Argentina and its producing an interesting and exciting wine. From the Libertad label, this wine offers fresh apple and pear flavours and outstanding value.
VINEYARD
The grapes for this wine come from old vineyards in East Oasis and El Mirador. These vineyards are trained in the pergola fashion, using vertical shoot positioning. The vineyards comprise clay, loamy soils and the climate is continental at the 800 - 900m altitude. The vines' average age is 25 years old
GRAPE VARIETIES
80% Chenin Blanc, 20% Chardonnay
VINIFICATION
Selection is practiced in the vineyards during harvest and then the grapes are totally destemmed and softly crushed. The must is cleaned by enzymes and then the fermentation then takes place in stainless steel at 14/17° C for 25 to 30 days. No malolatic fermentation is allowed to occur.
No oak ageing is practiced and the wine is fined and filtered before bottling.
TASTING NOTE
Produced from hand picked Pinot Blanc grapes grown at high altitude, the wine has excellent balance between fruit and natural acidity with aromas reminiscent of apple and pear. The palate is light, yet full of fruit.
