LIBERTAD CHENIN BLANC/ CHARDONNAY 2007 LIBERTAD CHENIN BLANC/ CHARDONNAY 2007

One could argue that the Libertad Chenin/ Chardonnay is much more than an budget wine - it shows great varietal fruit flavours and plenty of character at such a great price.

VINEYARD
The grapes for this wine come from old vineyards in East Oasis, El Mirador and Lunlunta. These vineyards are trained in the pergola fashion, using vertical shoot positioning. The vineyards comprise clay, loamy soils and the climate is continental at the 800 - 900m altitude. The vines' average age is 25 years old

GRAPE VARIETIES
80% Chenin Blanc, 20% Chardonnay

VINIFICATION
Selection is practiced in the vineyards during harvest and then the grapes are totally destemmed and softly crushed. The must is cleaned by enzymes and then the fermentation then takes place in stainless steel at 14/17° C for 25 to 30 days. No malolatic fermentation is allowed to occur.
No oak ageing is practiced and the wine is fined and filtered before bottling.

TASTING NOTE
A delicious fruit salad of a wine, bursting with ripe apricot and peach fruit flavours with a clean, vibrant and refreshing finish. Simple but very effective.
