This wine, made in pretty much the same way as Moscato d'Asti from Italy, is lightly sparkling, sweet and a real revelation if you haven't tried it. The wine is great fun with its attractive pink hue, its fresh red fruit palate and light alcohol. We're reliably informed that this wine can make a great Turkish Delight! VINEYARD The Gordo Muscat was sourced from the Boulton Vineyard and the Black Muscat was sourced from the Burge Vineyard, both in Victoria GRAPE VARIETIES 53% Gordo Muscat (Muscat of Alexandria) 47% Black Muscat (Muscat Hamburg) VINIFICATION The fruit was harvested at night, chilled and crushed and then given 6 hours skin contact (for the pink colour). The fruit was then pressed to stainless steel tanks and filtered bright before inoculation with yeast. The must was then fermented long and cold until full natural carbonation was achieved and the optimum balance between sugar and alcohol was reached. The wine was cold filtered and cold bottled at 0° C. TASTING NOTE The nose has an exotic mix of watermelon, musk and rose petals. The palate then follows with hints of sherbet and strawberries with a refreshing finish, a slight spritz with a cleansing acid zing.
