GUNDERLOCH JEAN BAPTISTE RIESLING KABINETT 2008
This wine is the only Kabinett wine in the Gunderloch portfolio and is a classical, off- dry Riesling typical for the minerality of the red soil from the Rheinhessen. The wine offers harmonious Riesling fruit with a fine acidity and light richness. A wine suitable for every occasion. It expecially matches lightly spiced Asian food.

VINEYARD
This wine is from the Rheinhessen, which is a region with an enormous potential for quality.
The micro climate that develops through the influence of the Rhine river, mild days until late into harvest time followed by cool nights setting in already early during the season- all these constitute conditions that are ideal for great Riesling. The growing region can be divided into three different areas: the Wonnegau in the south and Bingen in the north, the best vineyard sites though are undoubtedly the slopes bordering the Rhine between Oppenheim, Nierstein and Nackenheim.
This wine uses grapes from the Rothenberg, Pettenthal and Hipping vineyard sites, specifically from the lower parts of the vineyard terraces.
GRAPE VARIETIES
100% Riesling
VINIFICATION
Harvest takes place in the middle of October in the lower terraces.
The wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks and after a certain time of aging on the fine lees, the wine is bottled early in spring.
TASTING NOTE
The wine is a pale-straw colour with fresh citrus aromas and underlying perfumes of wet stones and slaty mineral. The palate is slightly off-dry but fresh showing ripe apple, pear, lime zest and lemon juice. It has a long, mineral driven finish and good acidity.
