GROSSET POLISH HILL RIESLING 2007

Grosset Polish Hill is the definitive Clare Valley Riesling, winning plaudits from the press the world over. It has incredible perfume and purity, lime/floral fruit profile balanced by an indelible acidity that cuts across the palate. Very different than the Watervale, it is a good example of terroir in action in the new world.

VINEYARD
Grosset Polish Hill is a single site wine from the Polish Hill vineyard, planted at 460 metres above sea level on sandy loam over shallow clay with underlying gravel, shale and slate. Like the Watervale, it has been made each year since 1981.

GRAPE VARIETIES
100% Riesling

VINIFICATION
Fermentation took place in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. Each section of vineyard and clone was kept separate resulting in 6 different components for possible inclusion in the final blend. Fermentation was carried out with neutral yeast at relatively high temperatures (15 -18°C). There was no skin contact at all, and only the free-run juice was used. No fining to modify taste is practiced or necessary due to the hand picking and fruit selection at harvest when necessary.

This wine has incredible perfume and purity, lime/floral fruit profile balanced by an indelible acidity that cuts across the palate. This wine does much to define the distinctive character of Clare Valley Riesling.'
