Buying Wine - FAQs

Is there a minimum order qunatity?

No, but delivery charges may apply, so we recommend that you order at least one full case to minimise the impact of the shipping. Orders over £200 qualify for free delivery.

Can I order a mixed case?

Yes. For most wines you can mix and match single bottles or have 12 of the same. Its entirely up to you.

However, for some wines, we only sell them by and unmixed case of 6 or 12 and this will be noted on the relevant pages on the website.

Why do you only sell some wines by the unsplit case?

To enable us to offer an unrivaled range and great value, we have arrangements with some of our suppliers to disptach wine directly to our customers. We don't hold stock of those wines and can therefore only offer them as unsplit cases.

Subject to these wines being in stock at our suppliers, they still benefit from our next day delivery service.

I'd like to buy a wine from a producer on your site, but you don't list it. Why not?

We don't list the full range of all the producers on our website. However, we would be happy to source any wine from any of the producers we list, subject to availability and a one unmixed case minimum order. Please contact us for more details.

I'd like to order a large format (or half) bottle of one of your wines...

Some of the wines we stock are available in large formats (magnums etc.) and in half bottles. We would be happy to discuss your requirements and try to source them for you, although our minimum order for this service is one unmixed case equivalent.

Can I buy wine in-bond?

Yes. Most of the wines available on the site will be available as an in-bond purchase. Only unsplit cases of six or twelve are available and will need to be transfered to your own in-bond account as we do not have a client account. Please contact us for an in-bond quote on specific wines.

Is there a shipping charge?

For all orders under £200, we apply a shipping charge of £10 per case of 12 or part thereof for most of the UK mainland. For orders of 3 bottles or fewer, the shipping charge is £8.

Orders over £200 are free to the "Mainland UK" shipping destination

Smaller, non-wine items such as corkscrews are charged in three bands; £3.50, £5.00 and £8.00 depending on the weight of the order. For orders over 5KG, the wine shipping charges above apply.

Additional delivery surcharges apply to certain remote and island areas - see wine sales terms and conditions for details.

We believe in transparancy in our pricing. If we offered universal free shipping we would have to cover the cost through increasing our prices (as many others do). The charges reflect our cost for shipping the products to you and we do not make a profit on shipping.

How long will delivery take?

We aim to make the majority of all UK mainland deliveries within 5 days of your order, excluding week-ends and bank holidays. Northern Ireland, and the Highlands and Islands of Scotland may take longer.

For most orders, we use APC as a next day courier and once you recieve confirmation your order has dispatched, you should receive it the next working day except in postocdes IV21-24, IV26-28, IV40, IV52-53, PA40, PH34-41 and all offshore postcodes which operate on a two day service.

For a small number of orders we may use alternative couriers and their service levels may differ.

However, some wines are stored in-bond and therefore may take a little longer to despatch. All orders should be delivered within 10 working days. If we expect your order to take longer than 5 working days to dispatch, we will contact you to inform you of the delay.

If you have any concerns about delivery, please contact us

Do you deliver outside the UK?

We can ship to the Channel Islands, Isle of Man and the Republic of Ireland and we suggest you contact us and we shall give you an individual shipping quotation for your particular order.

We do not ship outside of these areas.

Can I have a discount?

We often offer mixed cases at a substantial discount over the individual bottle prices.

We try to keep our prices very competitive in comparison to the market. Hence, big discounting is not our thing - we try to keep our prices as low as possible everyday.

However, if you are considering a bulk purchase, of over £1000, please contact us we'd be happy to discuss how we might help.

Why do you only have a PO Box as your address?

The terms of our alcohol licence only allows off-sales by mail order and we are mail-order only business. Therefore, we cannot welcome personal callers to our premises. Consequently, we do not publish our physical address to avoid people calling. We are based in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire and will happily answer any questions you may have. Please contact us for more details.
