MARQUIS DE SALSES VIOGNIER 2006 This is a rich but nicely balanced Viognier from the Rivesaltes Co-Operative in the South of France. Made by Alana McGettigan, assistant to "flynig winemaker" Matt Thompson, it offers lovely peachy fruit flavours, with a crisp acidity to keep everything refreshing. It is made by talented winemaker Sebastian Vaillant and is 100% Sauvignon. It is dry yet aromatic with good depth on the mid palate that makes it highly quaffable. This wine has a distinct Pinot Blanc varietal character, offering clean, full green fruit, a slight herbiness and a distinct minerality giving the wine wonderful balance. This Vin de Pays wine is an attractive pink and is a fragrant and sappy rosé, showing lovely red fruit character and a refreshing bone dry palate. CAVE DE HUNAWIHR RIESLING 2005 Hunawihr is a small co-operative in the heart of Alsace, making wines with quality and value in mind. It was rated the best co-operative in Alsace, and third in the whole of France, by the Revue de Vins de France in 2005. Riesling is very different in Alsace than it is in Germany, making a much drier style and this is shown here with a nice lime peel nose and robust acidity with a distinct mineral finish. It was rated the best co-operative in Alsace, and third in the whole of France, by the Revue de Vins de France in 2005. One of the classical Alsace grapes, this wine gives full, bodied, slightly off-dry tropical fruit flavours and a delicious spiciness on the nose and finish. DOMAINE PFISTER PINOT GRIS 'TRADITION' 2005 The Pfister estate covers 10 hectares of vineyard spread across 40 different parcels, primarily in Dahlenheim, in the northern part of Alsace, about 20km west of Strasbourg. The Pinot Gris is young and perfumed with a slight smokiness. It is medium to full-bodied with a lovely peachy texture and balancing acidity on the finish. CHASSANGE-MONTRACHET Champs Gains 1er Cru DOMAINE MICHEL NIÉLLON 2002 A truly grand wine from a great vintage for white Burgundy. Michel Niéllon produces some of the finest wines in Chassange from his limited holding of 5 ha. However, his wines are hugely popular in the US and as a result are in limited supply.
