DRY CREEK OLD VINE ZINFANDEL 2004 DRY CREEK OLD VINE ZINFANDEL 2004

This is a super wine from Dry Creek, using very old (80+ years) Zinfandel vines which produce high quality fruit through very low yields (< 2 tons / acre). The result is an intensely flavoured structured wine that displays all the classic bramble fruit of a quality Zin, but with the potential to age for many years. A great wine!

VINEYARD
This wine comes from the Alexander and Dry Creek Valleys in California and from vineyards that have a warm to hot afternoon climate during the summer. Their vineyards are generally planted on rolling hills and there is some coastal influence on the vineyards. There is a wide variety of soil types growing 80+ year old Zinfandel vines, which are carefully managed through canopy management techniques. The grapes are hand picked and yield around 2 tons per acre.

GRAPE VARIETIES
90% Zinfandel, 10% Petite Sirah

VINIFICATION
The grapes were de-stemmed and crushed and then macerated for 1 - 2 days before fermentation. Fermentation then took place in stainless steel tanks using cultured yeast at a maximum of 28°C for 18 days. The wine was then matured in medium+ toast French and American oak barrels for 18 months before filtering and bottling. The wine was then left to rest in bottle for 8 months before release.

TASTING NOTE
Aromas of blackberry, black cherry, and allspice. On the palate, the flavours burst with blueberry pie, vanilla, and dark cherry fruit. This wine will drink well now, but keep for 5+ years.

Per Bottle £13.99
