Domaine Robert Niero Domaine Robert Niero "Les Ravines" Condrieu 2010

Condrieu was once a dying appellation with a rather unusual grape variety in Viognier. But its resurgence in the last 20 years is very much down to producers like Remi & Robert Niero and their ability to produce wines of this quality and sense of place. This is a classic Viognier showing honeysuckle, apricot and a light creamy citrus edge.

The vineyards is located on steep (25% to 50%), south/ south-east facing granite slopes overlooking the river Rhone enjoying a long and warm day in the rowing season With such a steep slope, mechanical work on the vineyard is almost impossible.

The climate is moderate continental, dry and hot summer, with regular rainfall during the other seasons.

The estate comprises of 4 parcels of more than 3 hectares: Condrieu Coteau de Chery, La Roncharde, Côte Chatillon, La Caille and Vergelas. These plots are located in the town of Condrieu.

Each plot is planted with Viognier at a density of 9000 vines / ha.

100% Viognier

The grapes were hand harvested and crushed.

After fermentation, the 40% of the wine was aged in oak and the remainder in stainless steel.

Domaine Robert Niero "Les Ravines" Condrieu 2010 is Pale gold in colour with rich, honeyed apricot and aromatic floral notes on the nose. The wine is full bodied, dry & intense with further apricot and hints of dried fruits. A long silky finish.
