DOMAINE JEAN-PHILIPPE FICHET MEURSAULT 2006
The wines that Jean-Philippe Fichet is making today have few rivals for their class in Burgundy, and they could be unmatched in their transparency and expressiveness. This village wine is the product of a number of small parcels around the village and offers a well structured and fruity Meursault.

VINEYARD
Jean-Philippe Fichet's Meursault is based on three beautifully situated parcels on the southern slopes of the village: lesCloux (60-year-old vines); les Chaumes de Narvaux, just above Boucheres and Gouttes d'Or; Limouzin, directly below Genevrières, plus a little Criots.
Fichet's viticulture and vinification aims to capture
terroir
, delineation, and minerality in the wines. He practices
"lute raisonée"
(reasoned struggle). Jean-Philippe aims to know his vines, and to work with them to find a healthy equilibrium. He eschews chemical fertilizers, herbicides or pesticides.
GRAPE VARIETIES
100% Chardonnay
VINIFICATION
Fermentations take place in barrel. All wines go through malolactic fermentation in barrel.
Batonnage
is used sparingly depending on the health of the lees and the nature of the vintage.
The wines enjoy an unhurried 18-month
élevage
in barrel. A six-year barrel rotation is employed, with only a few wines (in top vintages) seeing more than 20% new wood.
TASTING NOTE
The Jean-Phillippe Fichet Meursault 2007 is juicy, fresh and structured with appealing notes of citrus fruits, yellow plum and gentle spice. A well balanced Meursault which offers just the right amount of balance and fresh fruit.
