D'ARENBERG THE STUMP JUMP WHITE 2007
The "Stump Jump" refers not to a ritual at the end of a cricket game but to the "stump jump" plough. Even at this level, the wines are handcrafted at d'Arenberg, utilising the same gentle treatment as the top of the range wines. The result of this extensive blend is a fresh, youthful and well balanced wine suitable for drinking at any time and occasion.

VINEYARD
The grapes for the Stump Jump are sourced from d'Arenberg's vineyards throughout McLaren Vale.
This wine is the combination of many individual parcels of wines that flowed down from the many senior wines in the stable including parcels from a range of new growers.
GRAPE VARIETIES
62% Riesling, 18% Sauvignon Blanc, 8% Marsanne, 8% Viognier, 6% Chardonnay
VINIFICATION
Parcels of fruit are gently destemmed and crushed through the 'Demoisy' crusher, and then basket pressed lightly with free run & pressed juice separated.
The juice is then run off to refrigerated tanks where it is slowly fermented to dryness. Some parcel experience partial fermentation on their skins.
TASTING NOTE
This is a wine with a wonderful fresh pale appearance matched with a quite expressive, fruity, dry aroma. It nose is initially dominated by Riesling notes of crisp florals, citrus and lime. Then the expressions of cut grass, passionfruit and sweet tropical fruit from the Sauvignon Blanc emerge.
The palate is very fresh and tight. It is quite light due to its youth but there is a moderate level of restrained fruit intensity and ripeness balanced with lovely crunchy acidity which keeps the finish in check.
