TERRUNYO CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2004 TERRUNYO CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2004

Terrunyo wines are made from specific blocks with Concha y Toro's specific vineyards. The front and back labels of the wines show the specific plots the wine is soured from. These are highly pure fruit driven wines, where oak very much takes a back-seat...

VINEYARD
The Terrunyo Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are sourced from the Las Terrazas, Old Pirque Vineyard in the Maipo Valley.

The vineyard has stony, alluvial soil which is poor in nutrients and highly permeable due to the gravel sub-soil.

The climate is semi-arid Mediterranean which is strongly influenced by the Andes and the nearby Maipo River. Large diurnal temperature differences aid fruit concentration and intensify aromas.

GRAPE VARIETIES
97% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Cabernet Franc.

VINIFICATION
The grapes were harvested by hand between 20th-30th April 2004.

The must is then fermented in stainless steel tanks and after fermentation, the wine was aged in French oak barrels for 18 months (80% in new barrels, 20% second fill).

TASTING NOTE
The wine has a deep red colour with an expressive, black fruit, mineral nose, with notes of lead pencil, black currant and fig. The palate is well structured and muscular, displaying soft tannins, with a long, pure and fruity finish.
