CATENA ALAMOS PINOT NOIR SELECCIÓN 2009 CATENA ALAMOS PINOT NOIR SELECCIÓN 2009

This wine qualifies as "one step up" from the standard Alamos range and when you've tasted it you'll see why. Pinot Noir can be a very difficult grape to grow, but Nicolas Catena has it spot on here, but don't expect a Grand Cru Burgundy. This wine offers fresh red fruit character and an attractive palate that you'll very rarely find in France.

VINEYARD
50 % of the Pinot Noir grapes were harvested from Catena's Adrianna Vineyard and 50% from the Domingo Vineyard. Both vineyards grow Pinot Noir clone 115.

GRAPE VARIETIES
100% Pinot Noir

VINIFICATION
The grapes underwent a 5 day cold maceration at 8º C before being innoculated with selected yeast to undergo an 8 day fermentation at a maximum temperature of 26ºC.

The final stage of alcoholic and all malolactic fermentation took place in barrel with battonage practiced. The wine was then matured in French and American oak

TASTING NOTE
Alamos Pinot Noir 2009 is an elegant, delicate and complex wine. It has a red-garnet colour, the nose is fresh with crisp cherry and strawberry flavours interwoven with candied fruit aromas and spice. Oak aging adds subtle vanilla and liqueur notes. On the palate, an initial sweetness leads to a complex, unctuous, light-structured wine, with soft, round tannins and a long, persistent finish.
