However, when we tried this, we were surprised to say the least - it has all the hallmarks of a real Tuscan wine without the price tag - Good show! VINEYARD Selected Chianti Castellani vineyards - sandy, clayey and calcareous soil GRAPE VARIETIES 80% Sangiovese, 10% Canaiolo Nero, 10% Ciliegiolo VINIFICATION Old traditional vinification methods: completely mature grapes are harvested from vineyards and processed in membrane presses. Soft presses, fermentation at controlled temperatures and prolonged maceration with the skins. TASTING NOTE This Chianti has a vivacious ruby red colour with some signs of garnet with ageing. There is an intense and characteristic bouquet, fruity with a violet fragrance and a slight hint of cherries. The palate is dry, balanced and lightly tannic which turns into velvety softness on the finish. This wine would be a delicious partner to spicy pasta dishes.
