CARMÍN DE PEUMO 2007 CARMÍN DE PEUMO 2007

This is undoubtedly Chile's finest Carmenère. Robert Parker, has considered this as a candidate for "Chile's finest wine", full stop! It certainly leads the pack in the variety that Chile is making its own. It can be enjoyed now, but will happily improve for the next 5 to 10 years.

VINEYARD
The grapes for this wine are sourced from a variety of Concha y Toro's finest vineyards. The Carmenère comes from Peumo in the Rapel Valley, the Cabernet Sauvignon from Old Pirque & Puente Alto and the Cabernet Franc from Puente Alto, all in Maipo.

GRAPE VARIETIES
91% Carmenère, 6.5% Cabernet Sauvignon , 2.5% Cabernet Franc

VINIFICATION
The grapes were harvested by hand.

The must is then fermented in stainless steel tanks and after fermentation, the wine is aged in 100% new French oak for 16 months.

TASTING NOTE
The wine is dark and has a deep red colour with violet highlights. The bouquet is very elegant and complex with a great deal of black fruit; plums and blackberries with hints of gooseberries and tobacco.

The palate is well-structured, giving bitter chocolate with sweet tannins. The wine is vigorous and concentrated with a thick with an oily texture, but its rich fruity base ends in a long finish.
