CALBUCO SEMILLON/ CHARDONNAY 2006
The Calbuco wines (Calbuco is a volcano in the Andes) have been put together to show typical examples of high quality wines from Chile. This blend shows what great value and quality is available .with clean, fresh fruit and a surprising depth of flavour at this price level.
VINEYARD
The vineyards are located in Chile's Central Valley, the strip of land between the Pacific and the Andes.
GRAPE VARIETIES
50% Chardonnay, 50% Semillon
VINIFICATION
The grapes were vinified protectively and fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel at relatively low temperatures to preserve the delicate aromas of the varieties. It was aged on the lees for a couple of months before bottling.
TASTING NOTE
Light lemon yellow in colour, this wine is clean and on the nose, with perfumes of fresh, ripe melon and a citrus tang. On the palate, it has an attractive depth which comes from the lees ageing balanced by a zesty, lemon/lime acidity on the finish.
