CALBUCO SAUVIGNON BLANC 2006
Showing as a very typical Chilean Sauvignon Blanc, this wine comes from the central valley and is made to show the potential for high quality for Sauvignon Blanc in the foothills of the Andes. This is very clean and refreshing wine with classic gooseberry fruitiness.
VINEYARD
The vineyards are located in Chile's Central Valley, the strip of land between the Pacific and the Andes. 41% of the grapes for this wine were grown in the Rapel Valley, 27% in the Limari Valley and 11% in the Lontue Valley. Rapel was picked from 22-28th Feb and Limari on 6-7th March.
GRAPE VARIETIES
100% Sauvignon Blanc
VINIFICATION
After harvest, the grapes were cooled immediately, followed by 8- 20 hours of skin contact. After pressing, clarification by gravity at 10°C followed and fermentation took place at 12°C. The wine remained for 1-3 months on the lees at 10°C until bottling. Acidity is 6.67g/l and residual sugar 4.10g/l.
