CALBUCO MERLOT 2006
Calbuco wines are sourced from the Central Valley in Chile - the strip of land that lies between the Andes and the Pacific. These are ripe, forward wines, the Merlot having attractive, plummy fruit and some weight and softness from the gentle oak treatment. Great Value!
VINEYARD
The vineyards are located in Chile's Central Valley, the strip of land between the Pacific and the Andes.
GRAPE VARIETIES
85% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon,
VINIFICATION
After hand picking, the grapes were de-stemmed and partially crushed. The must was cooled and pre-fermentation maceration lasted 48 hours. Fermentation took place in temperature controlled stainless steel at 25°C. Total maceration was 15-25 days during which time the malolactic fermentation was completed.
TASTING NOTE
This wine has a vibrant colour, a soft, plummy nose which follows through to a relatively full-bodied palate, with rounded, tannins and a good finish.
