CA' DEI FRATI CA' DEI FRATI "I FRATI" LUGANA 2010

This wine comes from the southern shores of Lake Garda and is from a producer that has often been described as a model Italian wine estate. The wine is fresh and zesty with lovely depth on the mid-palate and offers great value for money for this level of quality.

VINEYARD
Ca Dei Frati has 70 hectares of land, 61 of which are planted with vines trained using the Guyot system. They focus on making the best and most 'typical' wines possible, using only local grapes grown in the southern part of Lake Garda.

The grapes are sourced from a variety of vineyards in the areas (I Frati - Sirmione San Rocco - Pozzolengo Ronchedone - Desenzano del Garda La Tür - Desenzano del Garda Rovizza Alta - Peschiera del Garda). The vines are beteen 10 and 35 year old vines, planted on calcareous and clay soil and trained as single or double Guyot.

GRAPE VARIETIES
100% Lugana

VINIFICATION
Fermentation took place in temperature controlled stainless steel and then only 80% of the wine was subject to malolactic fermentation. The wine was then aged "sur lie" in stainless steel for 6 months followed by two months bottle age

TASTING NOTE
Light, lemon yellow in colour with an intense, fresh perfume of white flowers, a touch of acacia honey and a touch of ripe citrus fruit. On the palate it has lovely depth and balance between lively, zesty fruit and a fresh, crisp acidity.
