BROKENWOOD HUNTER VALLEY SEMILLON 2007

Hunter Valley Semillon is an Australian classic and this is one of the best available at this price. A pale lemon in colour, the wine has lovely aromas of lime, lemon and a slight perfume combined with citrus fruit and a fresh acidity on the palate.

VINEYARD
All the grapes for the Hunter Valley Sauvignon are sourced from within the Hunter Valley.

In 2007, High temperatures and low ground water meant an early start to picking with Brokenwood kicking off on the 17th of January, a week later than others in the Valley. Brokenwood Semillon is harvested from 18 different vineyards.

GRAPE VARIETIES
100% Semillon

VINIFICATION
The grapes were all picked by hand. The fruit was crushed, chilled and pressed immediately. Neutral yeasts were used for fermentation and the wine was held in temperature controlled stainless steel tank until bottling. No oak was used and no malolactic fermentation allowed to take place. This maximises the fresh fruit character of the wine when young.

TASTING NOTE
Bright lemon-yellow in colour, with a lifted, zesty perfume with lemongrass aromas and some sweet apple blossom. On the palate it has flavours of lime and cut grass, with a tight structure and good balance of citrus fruit and a lively acidity on the finish
