BOISSET BOURGOGNE CHARDONNAY 2006

This wine is a 'generic' Bourgogne Chardonnay, but the grapes were extensively sourced within the Côte d'Or vineyards making this an excellent value wine for the quality. It displays a lovely perfume on the nose and delicate fresh fruit flavour, with subtle oak character.

VINEYARD
This Bourgogne appellation brings together four great regions. Yonne to the north, with its fresh, mineral wines; followed by the Côte d'Or, with its rounder, deeper whites; the Côte Chalonnaise with its pleasant wines; and lastly, the Mâcon region to the south, with a range of styles varying with the individual soil and exposure. Soils are mostly limestone-clay

The wine is a blend of 50% declassified vines from Ladoix and 50% Bourgogne vineyards from Puligny-Montrachet. The fruit from the parcels of vineyards in Ladoix gives a richness to the wine, while fruit from the vineyards of Puligny gives a lovely minerality.

100% Chardonnay

VINIFICATION
The wine is barrel fermented using natural yeasts (approximately 10% of the barrels are new). The winemaker eschews battonage as he doesn't like the fatness it lends to wines, preferring instead to allow the inherent elegance of his wines to shine through unhindered. The wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in barrel.

TASTING NOTE
This vintage is an attractive clear yellow in colour with crystalline reflections, and has a very refined nose with notes of white flowers. It is round and delicate in the mouth, with a polished acidity which lends freshness and purity.
