CATENA ALAMOS MALBEC 2006
Catena are arguably the best producer in Argentina and their basic level Malbec displays all the characteristics of the grape that Argentina has made its own. Showing ripe dark berry fruit along with nice spicy notes. The finish is long with sweet ripe tannins holding everything together.
VINEYARD
From Mendoza in the foothills of the Andes, the grapes for this wine are sourced from four specific vineyards: La Consulta, Tupungato, Lunlunta, and Agrelo
GRAPE VARIETIES
100 % Malbec
VINIFICATION
The wine was fermented using selected yeast at a maximum fermentation temperature of 30°C, for 12 days, with maceration on the skins of 23 days. The resulting wine was then matured for 9 months in French and American (25% of which was new).
TASTING NOTE
The 2006 Alamos Malbec has a deep, dark violet colour with blackish inky tones. The nose offers rich blackberry aromas with light notes of violets and vanilla. The mouth -feel is full yet soft, with ripe, concentrated dark berry fruit flavours and a touch of sweet spice from light oak aging. This finish is long and lingering, with sweet, inviting tannins
