CATENA ALAMOS CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2006 CATENA ALAMOS CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2006

The Catena family began to make Alamos in 1993 as a second label to Catena, sourced from some of the family's younger vineyards in the best areas of Mendoza's high altitude wine country. Yields are kept low and all grapes are hand harvested. This wine offers lovely soft black fruit with notes of mint, leather and cigar box aromas.

VINEYARD
The Catena family has conducted extensive research into the soils and microclimates of
Mendoza's high altitude wine country in the foothills of the Andes mountains. At different altitudes, the family's Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards express a unique profile of aromas and flavours: The grapes for this wine were grown in the La Consulta, Tupungato and Agrelo vineyards. The blend of these components creates a wine of unique character that has balance, concentration and a strong varietal identity.

GRAPE VARIETIES
100% Cabernet Sauvignon

VINIFICATION
The grapes were harvested between 12 and 24 April 2005, before being fermeted using sleected yeasts for 7 days and macereating for 15 days. The wine then spent 9 months in French and American oak

TASTING NOTE
The 2005 Alamos Cabernet Sauvignon presents a dark purple color with garnet tones. The nose is explosive, with red fruit flavors, sweet spice and a touch of fresh mint. The mouthfeel is full yet soft, with red currant and cassis fruit layered with notes of cigar box, leather and light notes of eucalyptus. The finish is focused, with finely grained tannins adding structure and length.
